Overview

Health Information Associates (HIA) is seeking a driven, results-oriented Business Development Manager to generate new revenue and expand market awareness for its coding-related services, CDI solutions, and SaaS offerings.

This role is ideal for a consultative sales professional who excels at converting inbound and outbound leads into new client relationships. The Business Development Manager will focus on qualifying opportunities, conducting discovery activities, presenting solutions, and closing business by leveraging HIA’s sales tools and marketing assets. Through strong relationship-building and solution-based selling, this role will directly contribute to revenue growth while strengthening HIA’s market presence and brand credibility.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of direct sales experience in:
    • Coding, CDI and/or HIM areas
    • Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center and Physician Group settings
  • Proven success in consultative, solution-based selling
  • Demonstrated ability to qualify and convert leads
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and follow-up skills
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with:
    • Microsoft Office
    • Virtual meeting and video conferencing platforms (Microsoft Teams)
  • Experience with HubSpot preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Essential Job Functions

  • Establish new client accounts through a structured outbound sales approach, primarily using virtual sales methods (online meetings, presentations, video conferencing)
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospects aligned with revenue objectives
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of HIA’s services, operational processes, and pricing structures
  • Support and participate in the management of existing client accounts to strengthen relationships and promote client retention
  • Expand revenue opportunities through cross-selling and identification of additional client needs
  • Collaborate with Business Development, Operations, Marketing, and Executive Leadership to support demand-generation initiatives
  • Monitor competitive offerings, pricing strategies, and market trends
  • Utilize HubSpot to:
    • Track leads
    • Document sales activities and client communications
    • Produce accurate activity and pipeline reports
  • Attend industry trade shows as needed (occasional travel)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
